Tragedy on Harlem River Elopement Ends in Death

New York August 23 two bodies found on the Harlem River banks near Mosholu Park in a suicide pact between John Landauer and Josephine Engel. Landauer a cigarmaker left his wife and three children to be with Josephine, a girl not yet fifteen. A note from Landauer to his wife explains his remorse and impending death. A patrolman discovered the scene and Frederick Engel, Josephine’s father, identified the victims at the station.

Propeller Shaft Breaks On Clyde Steamer Oneida
