Worcester August 22 Senator George F Hoar grows weaker with little change in condition as updates describe him sleeping and resting. General Rockwood Hoar notes no material change and a possible quiet night amid belief strong vitality keeps him alive despite bleak outlook.
London reports U S and other warships will not intervene for Russian ships at Shanghai. Russia plans to dismantle cruiser Askold while dispersal points are shown at Chefoo Kiauhhau and Shanghai. Diana escapes to Saigon and Rurik sinks in corean straits. Russia and Gromoboes reach Vladivostok. Novik sunk off Saghalien Island.
State Police investigated alleged crookedness in issuing transfer checks for the Boston & Northern and Old Colony street railways. Four men from Wakefield Quincy Brockton were arrested for larceny. arrests extend to more suspects and a new check system is planned. Crockett admitted accepting checks from another conductor and netted fifty cents.
James H McKinney a Ward 19 leader and noted Democrat was arrested after mutilation and destruction of a naturalization application filed under James H McIlnerney. The alleged act, dated August 17, led Deputy U S Marshal J H Waters to detain him. bail set at 3000. Friends call it a political trick. McKinney denies involvement. He was last seen at Parker Street Roxbury Crossing claiming no knowledge of the papers.
Police in plain clothes visited fruit stores on Sunday to enforce licenses and curb Sunday vending of tropical fruit. An official said officers gathered evidence ready to prosecute many dealers, with the action ordered by the Police Board.
Portland Aug 22 Miss Amy Clark 19 daughter of Frank F. Clark of Gray and Miss Clara Smith 22 daughter of Hugh J. Smith drowned this afternoon while bathing in Sebago pond. Smith seized by cramps, Clark went to aid her. both bodies recovered.
Mrs Emma Smith of 61 Kirkland Street Cambridge reported a theft after a well dressed colored man claiming to be sent by Christ to heal her organic trouble robbed her of money a watch and rings The victim believed his religious message and asked police to recover the stolen items.

Mrs Theresa Line of West Springfield fired buckshot at two intruders after they entered her garden seeking stray balls. The shot missed the youths but struck six nearby small boys. injuries are not serious. Line was arrested.
Boston Woodworkers Union 24 urged organized labor to demand union made coffins for members and families. An explosion in the basement at 48 Federal Street destroyed the shop area and caused $1200 damage. Two men, Arthur H. Bearlson and Nathan L. Linfield, were held after conflicting stories. Patrolman Devine and firefighters reported a masked, incendiary blaze. keys found on the suspects fit the barber shop door as investigators questioned them.
Mary Alice Botham was arrested in New Bedford after firing one shot at her father Joseph Botham during a family dispute. Authorities say the revolver contained six blanks and one live cartridge. the girl claims she intended to frighten him with a blank. She will be arraigned tomorrow afternoon.
At 7 45 tonight a Cheney box manufacturer owned car struck 12 year old Annie J Koziot at Paige and Bridge streets. She was caught in the chain brake and suffered three broken ribs and internal injuries. Doctors say she may die from the injuries.
