Supreme Judicial Court Action on Boylston Street Sidewalk

An information filed by the attorney general on relation of Bennet A. Nash and another seeks an injunction to stop Boston city authorities from removing the sidewalk along the common side of Boylston Street. The case questions whether the 1798 and 1833 statutes permit removing a sidewalk and notes tensions between the aldermen and mayor over executive powers. Proceedings to be submitted at the November sitting after pleadings. Other municipal court items include fines and detentions for assault, larceny, brothel, adulterated milk, false pretenses, obstructing police, and city court sentences in Roxbury and South Boston.
