Five year old Martin Hamilton, son of the keeper of Washington bridge in Providence, fell into the river Tuesday morning and drowned. Newport tax assessors have completed city valuation: real estate $20,529,000 and personal property $6,462,400, total $26,992,400. The seven month total tax is $172,751.
George B. Hadfield, 18, of Southington visiting Bridgeport, dove from a spring board at Humiston's pavilion in Seaside Park and struck his head on sand, breaking his neck. The body was recovered shortly after.
