Newport reports J Edward Addicks of Delaware bought Belvoir the Glover villa a Newport show place near the Atlantic and Narragansett Bay. The purchase price is not known but said to be near 75000 with taxes at 47000 and Addicks paid about twice that amount.

Mournful New York murder case widens with arraignments

Kathryn Scharn was beaten to death with a hammer as investigation notes indicate a passerby and her brother are involved. Lincoln Price, her lover, and Frederick Scharn were arraigned in Yorkville court and sent to the coroner. A visiting mother from Connecticut sought access to the morgue but offered no statements. Police report suggest no sign of struggle and point to a party inside the apartment.

Wind Tornado Ravages Sheboygan Wisconsin

A sudden northward wind storm in Sheboygan August 20 wrecked eight large buildings and 200 small houses, causing about 300000 dollars in damage. The storm, about ten minutes long, two miles wide, led to collapse of Crocker Chair and American Folding Bed plants, and tore the Lutheran church steeple onto two homes. No fatalities reported.

Terrifying Midwest Storms Leave Damage in Wisonsin

A fierce storm swept Oshkosh causing roof and storefront destruction on Main Street while several other buildings were damaged. In Abilene, record heat reached 115 degrees as 100 degree days persisted. Green Bay saw a cloud burst with over two inches of rain in half an hour, injuring crops and breaking communications lines.

Suicide by Convict Ends In New Hampshire Prison

Concord Aug 20 The death of convict Henry A Martindale in the State Prison followed a chapel service as he seized an escape chance and leaped forty feet from the gallery to the stone floor. He had been serving a fifteen year term for felonious assault since 1897. his home was Fitchburg Massachusetts. Prison officials say he was mentally weak.

Italian immigrant shoots sister in law over debt dispute

Guiseppi De Pietro, enraged over a $6 loan dispute, shot his sister in law Mrs Mary Willard in a Dedham apartment early today. He fled toward Boston after the tragedy, leaving three frightened children as witnesses. Police nationally issued alerts for a man about 6 feet tall, 37 to 38 years old, with a medium brown mustache and dark hair.

Babe Found On Doorstep In Boston Baby Abandoned On Newbury Street

Patrolman from Station 16 found a two week old infant on a doorstep on Newbury Street. The child was dressed in white and given a bottle. It was taken to the Chardon Street Home where a claimant is sought. Police suspect the mother intended to “farm the child out.”
