New Haven Financing Editor's Note on Bond Issue

The New Haven railroad faces a planned $67,552,400 issue of six percent 20 year convertible bonds to be offered at par with conversion after five years. Existing 6 percent bonds and 3½ percent bonds see price declines due to the prior lien and rights issued to stockholders and bondholders. Analysts compare yields and conclude the new bonds, convertible in 1918 and maturing in 1933, offer the best value though market prices and rights values depend on current trading.
