In a drawn out Casino display the Wrenn versus Collins match stretched to five sets with Paret, Ware, and Huntington also advancing in the National Championship rounds. Bracket action continued toward semifinals as Ward and Davis posted strong showings.
Glens Falls New York August 18 superb weather drew a large crowd to the grand circuit meet. Lady of the Manor clocked 2 04 1 4 in the 2:07 pace to win by a head over Prince Alert and Royal R, breaking the world record and beating Lena N. as the previous fastest mare. Lord Vincent swept three straight heats to lower his 2:19 trot mark, while the final 2:14 class trot was led by the favorite. The last 2:19 race was postponed until tomorrow morning due to darkness.
Joe Bernstein of New York defeated Polly Smith of California at Broadway A. C. under Queensberry rules in the thirteenth round after a dramatic swing of rounds twelve and thirteen. Bernstein dominated with in fighting and speed, sending Smith down five times total before the referee reached ten. Preliminaries featured Bill Hanrahan and Johnny Ritchie winning their bouts.
