Regatta at South Boston Captures Three Boat Races

The City Pot Rowing Club hosted a Thursday regatta at the foot of N Street in South Boston. Three events ran from five o’clock, including amateur and professional scullers plus a four oared working boats race. Luke Shea won the amateur scull, Michael Murphy triumphed in the pro race, and the Murphy crew won the four oared event. Gold medals and a gold oar-shaped scarf pin were awarded.

Concord Independent Club Excursion At Weirs Draws 600

A 600 strong Concord Independent Club excursion at Weirs on Thursday featured dancing sack and pig races and a lake excursion. Blaisdell and State Capital bands supplied music. John J. Braham of the Boston Museum orchestra led at Wentworth House Newcastle this season with a benefit last Thursday. Civil engineers began mapping the old Sullivan railroad line from Bellows Falls north to protect property as ownership documents were largely lost.

Amputation After Winter Injury and Vermont Road Telegraphed Trains

Benjamin Morey of Irasburgh lost part of his foot last winter leading to amputation of the leg. Albert D. Cummings of Berlin VT was thrown from a wagon near Montpelier, a crushing head injury leaving his recovery in doubt at age 44 with wife and child. At St Albans butter market receipts were fair and prices rose for high quality butter. Rutland butcher slaughtered an Alderney cow valued at $800 found in the yard with other cattle. Vermont Valley road to run all trains by telegraph between Brattleboro and Windsor, dispatch office to be at Northampton connected with the Connecticut River line.

Boston Common Council Meets in Regular Session

The Boston common council held a Thursday evening meeting with President Bailey presiding. Items include treasurer Alfred T.
