Firemen Changes at City Department

Fire Commissioner Russell adds two recruits to Engine 22, T J Quinan and David Brooks, at Brid Street and Harrison Avenue. Fireman Mongoven from Engine 6 is discharged for unbecoming conduct. A new combination ladder truck replaces Chemical Engine 8 on North Grove Street this week. The chief seeks a stable Engine 22 location as Back Bay residents press for relocation after aldermen settle the plan.

A Boston designer Sydney L Smith has created an appropriate artistic library volume adopted by the Washington public library board. The structure features a temple like frame with the words Library District of Columbia and a donor space. At Chicago on August 16 the NACW split after a fight over officers. Mrs Mary Church Terrell faced a re election issue and was chosen for an unfinished term. Miss Elizabeth G Carter withdrew with the New England faction after a disputed recording secretary race and 1000 members left.

Boston Sends Off Royal Party Aboard Derbyshire

A Boston crowd escorted prominent locals including Mr Barney Devine and Col Huguley aboard the Derbyshire at Charlestown. A tug Eisie and eight Ninth Regiment musicians led the send off with cheers from passengers and onlookers while a police revolver salute interrupted the band.

Early yesterday forenoon Zilen Bulli van, age years, of 107 Knesi and atreet, was found dead in her room. Dr. , who was called, said death was from natural causes.

Skeleton Unearthed Behind Somerville School House

Workmen unearthed a six foot man sized skeleton three feet below the surface in the rear of the Albion A Perry school on Washington near Dane in Somerville. The skull is well preserved while other bones show long burial. The land was bought by the city from a Boston dealer two years ago, previously owned by Charles Pettingill for about fifty years. No local memory of a burial ground or disappearances exists.
