Havana August 15 reports Mr. Milla a Brooke HQ clerk collapsed with yellow fever and moved to hospital. Other house clerks living there quarantined and belongings fumigated as authorities note Havana’s yearly yellow fever cases at three percent with twelve deaths, praised as a strong record.
The Navy reports a yellow fever case among Havana's marine guard of forty under First Lieutenant Mahoney. Acting Sec Allen orders the battalion to depart Havana for a northern U S. port, to be temporarily replaced by immune native watchmen and held in strict quarantine in New York.
President McKinley, amid triumphal arches and flag decorated grounds, speaks at the Catholic Summer School of America in Cliff Haven. He lauds national unity and the flag's mission, insisting loyalty to government as a creed and that the flag will endure any sacrifice for peaceful triumph.

A telegraphic note from Mexico City dated August 15 reports a yellow fever outbreak on a vessel in the Merx area. The message states the schooner or ship incurred the fever and that cases were observed through July 10. The source text is fragmented and obscured.
A Fort Wayne news item recounts Hillis Rinehart of Maysville, previously reported captured and killed in the Philippines, returning to a friend’s office alive. He had not been in the Philippines and had been discharged for disability. his parents believed him dead for months.
Miss Jewett plans a southward move amid family separation claims. A local reporter notes she spoke with young witnesses and Robert McGraw about an escape mob and a baby’s welfare in the unfolding event.

In Paris on August 15 an anti-semitic crowd near Faubourge St Denis and Rue de Valenciennes surrounded passers by shouting down with the Jesuits. A presumed anarchist opened fire wounding three men including Camille who was seriously wounded. the assailant fled.
Tom Tinton set the hour record at 84 miles 168 yards at Waltham, surpassing the American mark by 600 plus yards and lowering world records in fifteen categories. Everett Ryan defeated Jack Farnham in a 10 mile event amid two accidents, while Floyd McFarland, Hausman, Kramer and Howland led amateur ranks. Attendance reached 6600 as races opened with novice heats and finals, with Metro politan Wheelmen and Watertown, Charlestown riders prominent in results.
A community event titled Scotch Picnic is set for Thursday August 17 at Galedonian Grove. Admission details show a purse of 50 dollars and a prize of 50 dollars, with tickets available at a local location.
