Stabbed a Horse in Front of Boston Building
A long iron bar fell from an elevator on the sixth floor of the Roberts building at 17 Chardon Street striking and mortally wounding a dray horse owned by C. Bowen. The bar, fifteen feet long, pierced the animal’s back for twenty three inches, and the horse was killed. Elevator workers had been unloading bars when one bar remained and the lift was started, sending the bar down to the street. Police say the bar’s impact prevented greater harm if it had struck bystanders.
