President Cleveland Hosts Benedicts at Gray Gables
Aug. 16 Buzzard's Bay. The President could not fish due to callers. The Clermont steamer from New York, owned by Alfred Van Sant Voord, anchored near Monument Beach. A launch ferried the President and Mrs. Cleveland to Gray Gables, then returned as the Oneida anchored nearby. The Benedicts were ashore with Mr. EB Benedict, and the two couples spent hours on the south piazza and in town. Dinner followed at Gray Gables.

Miraculous Escape As Danville Bridge Collapses
A passenger train on the Atlantic and Danville line crossing a county trestle near Milton, Virginia, derailed as the span gave way.
