Milton A. Woodbury of Woodbury’s Case files a 1910 Suffolk Superior Court libel to annul his marriage to Elizabeth T. Beals of Attleboro on grounds of bigamy. He says Beals had a living husband Charles H. Beals and that he believed she was a widow. Separately Miss Helen Keller has learned to sing and will perform publicly for the otological congress at Harvard Medical School.
Mrs. Woodbury says a suit by her husband is a terrible misunderstanding. She remains legally married to Mr Woodbury and occupies the Roxbury suite at 250 Dudley Street while disputing accusations that she pursued bigamy. The couple's dispute centers on Beals, long believed dead, who reappeared prompting the suit.
Roosevelt's chances as Bull Moose candidate improve with odds at 3 to 1 and 4 to 1. Wilson remains at 1 to 2, Taft money edges to 5 to 2. No large bets today, only a few small wagers, none aimed at final national outcome but on state or regional wins by candidates.
The women’s organization of the druggists’ association elected officers led by President Mrs. J. F. Waterhouse of Boston. First vice president Mrs. J. W. Born deaf blind and dumb, Miss Keller has overcome many handicaps and now speaks without an interpreter for the first time in years. She will address an audience including renowned ear specialists from Europe and America as she expands her voice culture and public speaking skills.

Horace M. Sargent, clerk of the District Court, declined to issue an arrest warrant for Marguerite Trevor known as Love. Captain Elwood L. Shannon sought the warrant on evidence of George Sherwood and Howard W. Little who witnessed a woman struggling with clerks and Nickerson, manager of the gas company.
Police pursue a warrant for carrying a dangerous weapon while asserting Miss Trevor plans another visit to Nickerson. Witnesses say she earlier left Nickerson’s office saying she would return, and she registered at the Arlington Hotel as Mrs T Nickerson in Boston before Saturday. Inspector Griffin investigated in Boston and briefed City Marshal Mack.
A man at Tenean Beach in Boston performed a fancy dive for onlookers including Grace Conley of Tenean Beach. He lost his teeth during the dive and the crowd helped recover them, though the man left without identifying himself.
John W. Powers, 48, a 15 year veteran of the metropolitan park police, died at Malden Hospital after a collision between his motor bicycle and an automobile driven by William A. Blunt of Medford. Blunt was jailed in $500 bond and will face Manslaughter charges in Malden court.
A terse note reports that Bridgie Webber and Lefty Louie are safe in Massachusetts after a sequence of events. The message mentions Gyp the Blood and places the men in Methuen and nearby towns.
Nat C. Goodwin was seriously injured at Rocky Point near Hueneme when thrown from a skiff onto rocks by heavy breakers. The boat then dashed on him as he lay on the shore. Doctors later said injuries were not as serious as feared. he may not be hospitalized beyond tonight with bruises and cuts the main injuries.
Bridgie Webber in the West Side Court prison received a postcard from murder suspects Harry Horwitz Gyp the Blood and Louis Rosenzweig Lefty Louie, who are at large. The card sent from Methuen Massachusetts reads Do the best you can Were all right Your pals L and G.
Goodwin began a coastal motor trip from Santa Monica with an actress when a note to an Indian prompted a shore stop. Hyder refused the abort, Goodwin jumped in a smaller boat, a heavy sea swamped them, Goodwin was thrown ashore unconscious, Hyder managed to save him and return to Santa Monica.
Philip W. Johnson of Methuen, a Tufts junior, quietly wed Edna E. Collins of Medford last Saturday in Malden. The ceremony was kept from the bride’s parents until yesterday. the couple are both 21. Johnson works in Lowell and the bride is vacationing in Plymouth, N H.
London reports unofficial but solidly sourced plans for the Prince of Wales and his brother Alfred to visit the Duke of Connaught in Canada during the next summer. They would travel under their tutor Henry P. Hansell and may briefly stop in New York before sailing home to England.
In Los Angeles on Aug 15 two contrasting word portraits of Clarence Darrow were shown to the jury in the bribery trial. Darrow’s own plea cast him as a lifelong friend of the poor ready to sacrifice for their uplift. District Attorney Fredericks’ opening final argument depicted him as an enemy of society inciting class hatred and shedding sympathy for murderers. The prosecutor plans to finish his summary tomorrow.
