Gloucester Yacht Club novelty race draws lots for boats
In Gloucester Aug 18 a Gloucester Yacht Club midweek race used a hat draw to assign boats, producing solo piloting by Fr Wilder Pollard of Boston on an 18footer who steered, set spinnaker and finished first. Bar Harbor class winners included Vera III by one second over Lenane and Lila M won Class 1. The motor-boat bang and go back added lighthearted chaos as three entries bumped around the island to homeward.
