A westbound Chicago express train on the Erie railroad collided with freight engine No 27 after derailing from a rock slide near Shohola New York. Washington August 13 General Philip H. Sheridan's will dated May 23 1888 was admitted to probate. He leaves one third of his personal property to his wife with similar provision in lieu of dower and his Ohio homestead to his mother Kate Sheridan now deceased, to revert to son Phil H. Sheridan. The remainder goes in trust to M W Sheridan Linden Kent for the maintenance and education of four children with any excess to the wife. Guardianship remains with his wife and trustees named as executors. Personal estate valued at 2721 money 88000 stocks 5000 swords 3000 household furniture 600 horse and carriage 500 in Nonquitt house. indebtedness not over 1250. Boston Forger Bryant Arrested After Fake Frank Jones Checks
Walter C. Bryant was arrested by Officers Pike Cogan and Johnson on a charge of numerous forgeries and passing bad checks under the name Frank Jones. Victims include Roberts & Davis Hadley & Corwin S. Learnerd William B. French and Mrs Mary S Sanborn. Most checks were for $50, with one $25 example. Bryant, about 32, six feet tall, dyed light brown mustache, active in Maine and New Hampshire. He was found in a Blackstone street meat cellar making purchases and will be arraigned.
