Nantasket August 12. Chief Reynolds and park police pursue a diamond robbery at a local hotel. A woman is suspected and a wealthy Boston summer resident is said to be the victim. Investigations and telephonic inquiries to Boston and Quincy suggest a major development may follow the minimal public details.
On August 12 in New York crowds on trolley and elevated lines refused a second five cent fare per Justice Gaynor ruling. Cars blocked for miles, arrests made, officials jailed, and thousands walked to Coney Island while battles with police and mob threats occurred. Hospitalized pedestrians, two men and two women injured.
