In RicuMont Virginia on August 12 Judge Hughes ruled against remanding the case of John P. Fauve versus the board of sinking fund commissioners. He ordered mandamus to compel funding of consul coupons maturing after July 1 1882 into new 3 percent bonds. Judge Bond concurred.

At daybreak on August 9 J Daniels of Platte county entered his bedroom in Wichita and shot his wife in bed, then wounded his eldest daughter in the same room before killing himself. The incident left two daughters present and presumed fatal injuries to the daughter.
