The Bangor Missouri coroner's jury ruled that a negro pedestrian was run over by a train near South Winn on Thursday August 7. Engine driver Charlies H Sampson could see the man a mile away but kept the train at 30 miles an hour until within 100 yards when he realized the man was alive. They found Sampson negligent for not slowing earlier to stop before reaching him.

Westbound rates are demoralized in Indianapolis. Kansas point tickets sell at $5, a cut of nearly $9. A party of 283 from eastern Indiana traveled west on round trip tickets to southwestern Kansas for $12 each, a cut of 66 percent. Eastern rates also reduced by $2 and $3.

Springfield dispatch reports Officer Breen killed Abraham Shipley 18 during an attempted arrest for assault on a girl. In the night clash Shipley raised his arm as if aiming, and Breen fired in self defense, the incident occurring in Westfield.
