A Boston Maine liquor smuggling operation is targeted by authorities after a truck carried about 400 gallons of whiskey to Bangor. The vehicle reportedly traveled from Portland and Lewiston to reach Bangor and was met by accomplices who divided the cargo. The smugglers used a pathfinder car to plot routes to evade prohibitions, with profits estimated from $2 cost to $8 resale per gallon.

George Gray Jr. 17 of 538 Trafford St South Quincy drowned in Quincy reservoir Braintree yesterday afternoon. His father nearly died attempting a rescue but was saved by a human chain formed by neighbors. Body recovered after about 26 minutes. The boy, new to Quincy from Scotland three years ago, worked as a shipper for A A White Co Boston.

Tragic Drowning in Lakeside District Beebe’s Cove

Aage Rasmussen of 37 Prescott Street East Boston and Herberg were in a canoe when Herberg who could not swim grabbed Rasmussen in a death grip. Rasmussen fought to save him and nearly drowned himself. Rasmussen struck Herberg and planned to back away to free him, but Herberg slipped and sank. The accident occurred at 3 o clock off Beebe’s Cove opposite Cottage Street. Wakefield police started searching for the body and will resume efforts next morning.

Drowned Passenger in Motor Boat Tragedy at Lynn Harbor

Edward Dunfry 26 of Houghton Square Lynn fell overboard from the motor boat Alice near Nix's Mate yesterday. His companions James Hester and Lawrence O Keefe recovered the body and rushed to Long Island where Dr Schulman could not revive him after engine trouble forced an early swim. The drowning occurred as the engine was being cranked and Dunfry swam away.

Rescuers Save Drowning Pair at L Street Bathhouse

John Fisher, lifeguard, broke an oar saving Cronin from water. William E. Mullen, seeing Cronin in danger after Fisher’s fall, swam nearly 100 feet to reach Cronin and pulled him to shore. Cronin recovered and was sent home after resuscitation.
