Fishing Crew Desert Vessel At Port After Dispute
Skipper William Hogan of the Frances Whalen led a crew to desert the schooner after a dispute over trip proceeds. The last voyage left the vessel at Presi dent Roads and the Ross tug Hamilton A. Mathes towed her to Commercial wharf. Crew claim the purser or slatekeeper shorted their share of the gross stock after bait ice and provisions costs are deducted. If Hogan cannot ship a crew by today he and owner Captain Sylvester Whalen face loss for bait and ice.
