Esopus August 9 The nation’s Democracy awaits Judge Parker’s acceptance speech tomorrow with rumors it will thrill Democratic followers from coast to coast. Insiders say the speech may rival his famed gold telegram to the convention and disconcert Republican managers.
Boston and surrounding districts face a feared gang of yeggmen causing a reign of terror with safebreaks and burglaries. Authorities led by Chief Watts and state police have yet to obtain a solid clue as to the criminals' identity after $15,000 in property losses and multiple break-ins across Cambridge Winchester and South Boston.
A westbound Baltimore and Ohio No 17 passenger train collided with a Chicago and Erie freight at Brighton Park crossing. A mother and her four children died instantly while C C Schwartz survived with injuries. The flagman had signaled the freight to back over the B&O tracks, but the collision occurred as the passenger train neared. Several others were seriously hurt.
Mrs. Ogden Goelet’s celebrated 200000 dollar jewel collection, reported stolen in Newport, was found today in her New York City safe. Police and detectives concluded the loss was probably a misplacement, not a theft, and the jewels were located after she traveled from Newport to inspect her effects.

Christian Kolhett, 59, of 1481 Cambridge Street, Cambridge, has been missing since Monday. He is 5 foot 10, 160 pounds with a sandy mustache and light complexion. He wore light trousers a blue coat and vest and a straw hat.
Peter Bradley and Charles Conley, dorymates from Boston, endured 11 days in an open boat with no fresh water or food after the Indiana’s crew left to set trawls. The Hydrangea picked them up about 40 miles off St Pierre, Miquelon, their boat drifting 200 miles in dense fog. They will be transported to Boston after recovery. Indiana is Gloucester owned with a Boston crew led by Captain Oliver B. Thomas.
Pueblo reports show seven more bodies recovered from the Eden train wreck as organized parties comb Fountain River banks. A coroner's jury opened, investigations will be exhaustive. The list includes misidentified names and a live miss, Vinnie Zellby, while others remain missing or identified.

Japanese forces mobilize near Sinmintun about 30 miles west of Mukden using the Shanhaikwan Yinkow railway to provision troops for an attack. Charles Vanderhope of 16 Gerry Street was riding a bicycle on Massachusetts Avenue near the railroad crossing in Cambridge when he fell, fracturing his skull. He was taken to Cambridge Hospital by Officer Doherty and listed in serious condition.

Miss M. Dougherty of Rochester suffered a severe scalp wound when her hair was caught in the moving crank shaft of a car in Central Park New York. She was hospitalized with serious injuries but expected to recover.
A mob of 200 men and boys in Riverside Kaw attacked an incoming train of strike-breakers, drove off non union workers with clubs, tossed baggage into the Kaw River and set a car on fire. Police extinguished the blaze. no arrests were reported.

In Chicago the first riot of the packers strike disrupted Van Buren and Franklin streets as pickets halted a meat wagon and beat the driver. Police dispersed the crowd after a clash that saw four rioters arrested and a second wagon struck with a brick. Aldermen and allied tradesmen pressed Mayor Harrison over alleged violations by packing firms regarding strike breakers housing in stock yards.
