Italian Shoemaker Stabs Two Sisters in New York Street

In New York on August 8 Italian shoemaker Fillippo Giampata stabbed Kate Weil, 18, and Rosa Weil, 27, near 326 East Eighty eighth Street. Kate died after seven stab wounds. Rosa survived with nine wounds. Giampata, 47, was arrested after a struggle with bystander George Hohenstein and police. The sisters had a troubled history with Giampata, including child custody and prior arrests.

Sinking of Two Vessels Near Melbourne Route Reported

Captain Henderson of the Prince Oscar arrived in Philadelphia on Capac recounting a July collision in heavy seas. Four crew members died aboard the Oscar and two more perished when a lifeboat capsized. An unknown full rigged ship with 30 to 40 crew also sank.
