Telegraph Rates and Government Telegraphic Concessions
Noorvin Green argues that government telegraph rates are unfairly favorable to the state, noting that the press rate is based on commercial pricing and has dropped over years. He compares long distance circuit charges, contrasts past higher 1870s rates to 1884 reductions, and asserts government savings of about a hundred thousand dollars annually while granting privileged service.
