In Minneapolis nearly $300,000 was forged in the name of John Blaisdell, a wealthy resident. The forger, J Frank Collum of Rockwood & Collum, formerly Blaisdell's attorney at 220 Temple Court, confessed and asked for no mercy. He allegedly forged other citizens’ names for amounts between 5000 and 20000 and was held at Attorney Davis's office after arrest.

Liverroor Aug 7 The jury found Mrs Maybrick guilty of murdering her husband and she was sentenced to death. Judge Stephens cited her infidelity and a motive to rid herself of her husband to live with her paramour. The court noted a letter phrase “He is sick unto death” as key evidence. The crowd roared and police protected the carriage amid calls of shame. Efforts to stay the sentence were announced as medical evidence was sought.
