Miss Jennie Zimmerman 25 of 82 Bridge Street shot and killed her cousin Dr Henry Zimmerman 25 an Army lieutenant after a quarrel in Ferry Street He was hit by four of five shots and died at Mercy Hospital The act followed allegations of attempted asylum commitment and money loan disputes The case involves Red Cross work and war relief participation by Miss Zimmerman and expected discharge to Camp Devens
More than fifteen thousand workmen along the B and A lines refuse to operate today. Milk and ice supplies grow precarious as an embargo restricts all but perishable freight. Local men pledge to ignore the president's appeal to return to work.
President Wilson informed Director General Hines he may decide on higher wages for railroad shop employees. He said Cummins letter freed him to act, but faulted workers for striking and disavowing their officers. The issue remains at a standstill until employees return to work and acknowledge their union's authority.

In the National League Chicago beat Boston 6 to 2, Philadelphia 5 to 3, Pittsburgh 3 to 0, Cincinnati routed Brooklyn 13 to 0, and New York and St Louis tied 4 to 4.
