Astor Cup Race Drifted to Slow Finish in Newport
The 32nd Goerét Astor Cup sailed in a light breeze finished with the sloops and schooners under tow of two slow boats. The 60-foot knockabout Carolina II owned by Pembroke Jones of Newport won the sloops with an 8 hour 10 minute 54 second time. the schooner Elena owned by Morton F. Plant of Groton, Conn., was runner up in 6 hours 58 minutes. Other yachts failed to finish as winds stayed under three knots.
