L L Conrad a prominent Baltimore lawyer was shot dead by his wife near Glydon as both suffered insanity from disease. The shooting occurred at his side. the wife, a cousin of Samuel Hanson linked to a Howard county murder, and of John Tolly Jonas and Richard Jonas who died by their own hand. Conrad was the son of the secretary of war under Polk.

Eugene J. McCarty a 26 year old resident of 26 Eaton Street Boston was killed on Stonington road in Providence on Monday night. He leaves a wife and no children.
Amateur Oarsmen regatta opened on the Passaic river with trial heats. Notable results include Bryan winning junior single sculls, Casey leading senior singles, Killian and Buckley disqualified Buckley for foul, Murphy taking senior single sculls, and multiple heats in senior fours with boats from Newark Cambridge and Philadelphia.
The largest party this season traveled to Plymouth yesterday aboard the Stamford, mainly Farmers' club members from Andover with families and friends. Philadelphia August 7 An insane patient at Norrisown asylum died Saturday from injuries after a beating by attendant Gaffey who has fled. The asylum trustees offer a $500 reward for his arrest.
