Narrow Escape Fire Destroys Murphy Home in Revere
Yesterday morning a fire alarm from Box 36 sent volunteers to E. J. Murphy and wife on Railroad Avenue. Mrs Murphy’s gown ignited over a gasoline stove while preparing breakfast. Mr Murphy and neighbors rescued them as flames reached curtains. All belongings lost. the house is a total loss with damages estimated 4000 to 5000, only partial insurance. The Palace bathing rooms profits and a purse were saved by timely evacuation.

Fate of the W. W. Crapo schooner reported near Dover
Miss Mary Hardy received a letter from her mother describing the fate of the W. W. Crapo. The schooner, loaded with sodium nitrate at Iquique Chile, was to sail July 3 for New York but faced weather. An incendiary fired the ship at about 10:30 p.m. all aboard escaped with their lives. Only the chronometer was saved. Captain Hardy and his family expect home soon via Panama and then by steamer to Philadelphia or New York.
