Sprague Fire Destroys Town. Northern Pacific Shops Threatened

A hurricane like blaze swept Sprague Washington destroying over one million dollars of property in two hours. The fire began in a livery stable near the railroad and spread to both sides, engulfing the car shops depot ice houses hotels and restaurant buildings. Seven engines were saved but the round house fell burying three others. Oil tanks exploded spreading flames to business districts leaving many homeless. A relief train brought food and tents as officials fear the Northern Pacific will move its shops to Sprague.

Mass assault on Black residents by Italian mob near Princeton

Aug 4 Princet on Ill Italians from Spring Valley attacked a Black village two miles west of Princeton after a mob gathered at a mass meeting. Reported injuries include multiple serious head wounds and internal damage among residents. several women were assaulted. Sheriff’s posse arrived too late. no arrests reported.

Missing Melrose Man Found Wandering in New York

Mother's Treasure tragedy in Attleboro
