Miss Gibson and Maloney completed a grueling crossing from Charlestown via North End Park and Long Island Head with favorable conditions and variable water temperatures. Gibson led at times aided by pilot Charlie Richards while Maloney used strength to beat the currents. Murphy and McCormick from Lowell abandoned near Nix's Mate.
