The body of Joseph Holland, 22, of 639 Seventh Street South Boston was found last evening in four feet of water near the L Street baths. The coroner’s examination suggested the body had been submerged seven to eight hours. The other text references political figures and liquor-licensing queries.
Holland, staying with his sister wife of James J. Gavin, disappeared after saying he would visit L street baths. Lifeguard Thomas Robinette and bathers recovered a body on the beach. doctor says the man was in the water over seven hours and likely seized by cramps. The tug Thomas F Timmins reported the Deutschland left the Chesapeake Bay and passed the Capes at 8 30 p m after an 18 mile dash. Captain Hinsch noted Germanys crew cheered America as the submarine moved to sea through rough seas with lights fading beyond the Capes.

Cargo seized from Baltimore by the German submarine Deutschland includes 60 snow shovels to be used in German war trenches next winter. The shovels were made by Biddeford Variety Manufacturing Company and purchased by a German agent after Deutschland arrived. They were shipped last Saturday, arrived in Baltimore on Tuesday, then loaded aboard the submarine.
A police organized search in Bridgewater seeks to recover the body of Mrs. Packard, about 35, blue eyed, who is believed drowned after canoeing on Town River earlier today. The rented canoe was found two miles below John Case's West Bridgewater home, with her blue suit coat inside.
