Leading capitalists from Boston Providence and other New England plus New York invested about $100 000 in the Boston Dock and Warehouse Company. They seek John H Hodsdon its principal promoter who has gone abroad and is rumored to be in London England.
A year after its launch, a private trust planned to redevelop Commonwealth flats in South Boston into warehouses docks and rail terminals. The project sought 12 to 50 million dollars with two thirds from Europe, funding salaries and operations for Mr Hodsdon. Tension arose when Hodsdon requested ten thousand dollars annually for five years, which directors refused.
July 31 1912 marked a historic baseball day as the Red Sox defeated the Browns and Washington fell to Detroit, widening Boston’s lead in the American League. The Braves dropped a 19 inning marathon to the Pirates, the longest in six years, capping a tense day. John M Ward sold his stake and resigned as Braves president, to James E Gaffney.
John M Ward resigned as Braves president in New York yesterday afternoon selling his holdings to Treasurer Gaffney. Gaffney also acquired stock of Joseph Carroll of New York, who helped him and Ward buy the club from the Russell estate last winter.
The move leaves Gaffney as virtually the sole owner of the club with less than 100 of 1000 shares held by Connolly Murphy Woodcock and two other Bostonians. A meeting is planned in the Paddock building on Friday to elect a new president and directors. Willie Locke of Pittsburgh emerges as likely successor, with prior links to Gaffney and consideration by Dreyfuss for possible resignation of his Pittsburg role.

In Manchester New Hampshire on July 31 a group of boys from the State Industrial School overpowered and captured 17 year old Howard B Warren who had bound Warden Thomas Fox and knocked him unconscious. Warren seized keys to the institution and attempted to flee before being recaptured.
Warren, a large boy, grabbed keys from the warden, fled into a corridor but was chased by others who seized the keys, locked him up, and waited for police. The group did not escape and even called for police and a doctor after the confrontation. The warden’s condition deterred further plans by his companions.

At the same time yesterday six Elevated division superintendents were arrested on grand jury indict ment warrants for alleged perjury before the State Board of Arbitration. Continued on Page 2-Fourth Column.

July 31 Mrs. James E Bridgeman wife of a Paris NY Life cashier was shot and killed by Mme Bloch a novelist known as Frederic Boileau and Lyceum Club member. Bridgeman formerly Minnie Bernhart of Milwaukee Wisconsin. The crime is described as passion or jealousy.
Mrs Bridgeman occupied a small apartment near the Madeleine after separating from her husband who recently filed for divorce alleging long time meetings with M Bloch. Madame Bloch was said to know of the charges regarding the affair.
