Crowds Pack Arlington and Tremont Streets for Holiday Parade

Under a clear sky spectators gathered as trains and cars brought sightseers to Arlington street and Commonwealth avenue. General Miles and aides organized the march with tight spacing along the line and a large crush near Tremont street by the reviewing stand and the Living Flag. Despite confusion the crowd remained good natured as the holiday spirit dominated.

Tremont Street “living flag” children burned by heat

Drug stores hotels and department stores became improvised hospitals for the sick and injured. A brisk breeze spared greater disaster. By afternoon heat worsened and 1250 children beneath Old Son’s rays were distressed, exhausted and carried to relief stations under the grandstand.

Farmer Harrington stabbed in New England collision incident

Henry T Harrington a Shrewsbury farmer was stabbed tonight by three men in an automobile that collided with his wagon near his home. He suffered a shoulder wound near the collar bone but is reported in not serious condition. The car 22397 is said to belong to the Boston schoolhouse department.
