Market Weakness in New York and Western Rate Increases

The New York market showed weakness from the Bank of England rate rise and European monetary unease amid the Argentine crisis. Foreign arbitrate houses sold stocks, while likely tired-out speculators and short sellers dominated much of the flow. Despite heat and export gold engagements, sugar and silver rose, with bankers predicting higher silver prices. Western roads agreed on east-bound commodity rate increases, boosting projected revenue, while Pacific Copper Company faces a high production cost estimate.
