A wagon load of men attacked Policeman John Kavanagh when he tried to stop them making noise at Riverside. He is fearfully disfigured but expected to recover. The assailants fled the scene.
The New Haven district reports state population gains with New Haven County at 208,669, up 52,146 since the last census. New Haven city stands at 85,234, rising 22,952. Fairfield County reaches 149,782, up 37,740. Litchfield County records 53,408, up 1,434.
Johnstown Pennsylvania Auxiliary lists what it deems the final dead from the flood. The tally reaches 2187, suggesting more than two hundred bodies remain unrecovered la later months after the disaster.
Harry Hassock aged fourteen son of Joseph Hassock of Brooklyn New York drowned in Lake Quinsigamond Worcester while bathing with a playmate this afternoon. The accident occurred during a warm day at the lake where local rescuers recovered the body. Authorities are investigating the incident and credit exists for swift rescue efforts by bystanders.
