Authorities confirm his absence since yesterday. last seen at a drinking place and warned a friend this would be the last time he would be seen alive. His trades abroad have been closed. his family is expected to be paid if needed.
In the April 29 session of the Superior Court, the Welch manslaughter trial over the Quincy railroad wreck last August continued. The government rested after witnesses including Hartney, Baker, Steadman, Babcock and Judge Edwards. Welch’s Cotter argued the jack was under proper orders and not the danger claimed, and proper brakes could have avoided loss of life.
