Eight hundred Memorial Hall diners at Harvard faced a terror of a blast just before 1 PM. The gallery shook, plaster fell, and staff and students fled or sought cover. Witnesses said it felt like a bomb but the building stood with no injuries reported.
Lynn officials respond to Governor Douglas and citizen protests by launching an inquiry into gambling and vice. Mayor Eastham promises action once evidence is proven while Chief Burckes warns of aggressive prosecution and potential State police involvement if local forces fail.
General Fitzhugh Lee of Virginia died at Providence Hospital Washington at 11 20 PM from apoplexy and paralysis after a train incident en route from Boston to Washington. He was born November 10 1838 and served in the Confederate Army 1861 1865 later Virginia governor and diplomat. His family and officers were summoned to the capital as word spread of his sudden decline. The attack followed his work on the Jamestown naval and military review.
Mrs. Lucy E. Jenks, 61, of 865 Fourth Street South Boston, collapsed in Brattle Street subway station yesterday afternoon just before 2. An ambulance from the Relief station arrived too late. Dr. George Howe said heart disease caused her death. Her husband works for the Elevated Railway Company.
Cambridge police arrested Charles W. Kenney last night on a charge of taking a Harvard student’s watch at a dance. Inspectors Deehan and Neison recovered the watch in a Boston pawn shop leading to the arrest. He faces arraignment before Judge Almy in Cambridge District Court this morning.

An Italian boy aged 8, Aurelio Zirpoli, was crushed by a heavy drag driven by Thomas H. Graves on Washington Street near his home. He died at Relief Hospital after being brought to the curbside by his mother who witnessed the event from a window. Graves claimed he did not see the child until too late and was taken to the station.
Cambridge police suspect a fashionable female thief at the Cantabrigia Club bazaar on Radcliffe College grounds. Inspector Cox watched last night but did not identify a suspect. No thefts occurred due to uniformed plain clothes patrols. items missing include $10.50, a hand bag owned by Mrs. Brown, and a lady's coat.
A telescope survey at Harvard College Observatory led by Professor William H. Pickering discovered Saturn’s tenth moon from 13 photographic plates taken with the 24 inch Bruce telescope. The satellite’s motion is direct in its orbit.

In Fitchburg April 28 Mr Joseph D Merriam aged 83 and Mrs A Lucinda Hall Maxwell aged 67 wed at his North street home. The couple, both long widowed, spoke of loneliness and companionship as they began their first day together in the old house Merriam built for his first wife in 1871. Merriam, once a widower with deceased children, said old age needs love and care, while Mrs Merriam, from Skowhegan, Maine, expressed relief at finding happiness again after years alone.

In Vermont a claim is filed that Mrs. Mary Rogers of Hoosick N Y was insane before the murder of her husband Marcus Rogers The doctor who examined her says she attacked him threatened him and warned of danger two days prior to the crime He asserts the mental condition could alter the death sentence appeal on grounds of insanity.
