Narrow escape by harbor yachtsmen near Boston Light

Three amateur yachtsmen led by Captain Ave Swim of the tug William H. lison and the Delaware & Lackawanna ocean tug Scranton with three barges in tow, rescued a catboat crew stuck between barges near Boston Light. The catboat lost control, fouled the second barge’s anchor cable, and danger grew as a breeze could push them seaward. Swim improvised a line, freed the catboat, then towed it to the Hull wharf after damage to bowsprit and gear. Victims, all Quincy men, praised the timely rescue.
