Two men believed to be ringleaders of a Boston gang linked to the Willie Whitla kidnapping were arrested at Post Office Station A after days of police surveillance. They are held at Dedham Street station for U S officers and details are not being released.
Parents of the Whitla boy received a Boston letter demanding a large sum and threatening harm to the child if not paid. The writer also urged helping Kidnapper Boyle and his wife to gain their release. Police took custody of the letter as hundreds of similar threats have appeared.
Edward F. McSweeney, chairman of the Consumptives' Hospital, condemned Boston 1915 street-watering and cleaning as a public health menace atFanueil Hall. He warned that unclean streets after winter deposits allow dust to harm lungs, arguing economy cannot trump health.
Mr Mc Sweeney condemns a wealthy tenement owner for avoiding community restitution by failing to improve the property and only giving 50 dollars to a charity. He says tenants seek justice, not charity, for the lack of comforts and improvements.
Adolph G. Hoelscher a Boston bookbinder at 65 Beverly Street received a substantial reward from Arthur N Boas for providing the first authentic information on the whereabouts of Boas daughter Adele. Hoelscher traveled to New York for a consultation with Boas and terms of settlement were set and kept confidential.
Adele Boas returning from Boston sparked a dispute over a reward offered by her father. Legal representatives said the reward would not be paid to any claimant. Mr Hoelscher proved first to locate the girl and received the reward, after which the girl returned to Boston.
Abdul Hamid II cries it is Allah s will as his deposition ends his reign. Mehemmed Reshad Effendi becomes Mehmed V by decree approved by Parliament and read by the Sheik Ul Islam in Constantinople. The note quotes his wish to die where born and asks for safeguard of his family.
The document states Abdul Hamid's acts violated sacred laws with a long list of crimes, forming a harsh indictment. The assembly selected Mohemmed Reshad as Sultan and formed committees to inform the dethroned ruler and his successor. A 101 gun salute announced the new reign.

Melrose on April 27 reports the death of Max Landy a 17 year old athlete struck by the suction of a rapidly moving express train from North Berwick to Boston. Ellen Stone was also aboard but unharmed. Landy was a Melrose High School student and son of Mr and Mrs Dyke Keedy of 4 Bonner Park.
In New York on April 27 widow of Jim Patten spoke of suffering poor families and condemned her husband's wheat corner leading to his unusual withdrawal from the market.
Patten, famed as a fearless wheat baron, surrendered control after his wife urged relief for the poor. Following prayers and social pressure, he sold a million bushels to Shearson, Hammell & Co at 1.29 and 4 million more at 1.24, keeping only cash wheat. Grain men say he could have kept prices high but chose to exit.
After a two hours joint city government session in Malden, at 1 o clock this morning Charles R. Elder was elected chairman of the Board of Assessors.
Edison Company reports the mayor signs a new lighting contract amid mounting storm concerns. City officials expect improved street illumination and energy efficiency following the agreement.
Boston will pay about 1.8 million dollars over five years to the Edison company, roughly 360 thousand dollars yearly, which is 25 thousand less per year than the first proposed contract and 75 thousand less than the old contract. Magnetite lamps drop from 110.81 to 103.54 per lamp per year and Gilbert are lamps fall from 103.54 to 92.39 per lamp.

Obituary for Mr. Tillinghast born April 3 1843 in West Greenwich Rhode Island. He served as city editor of the Boston Journal 1870 79 librarian in Massachusetts 1879 88 and state librarian since 1883. He held multiple library and education roles and lived at 120 Dartmouth Street.
A large Peabody plant of the Alex D. Clark Morocco Company on Neptune Street suffered extensive damage from a blaze that began in a small storehouse at 2 36 this morning. Firefighters from Peabody and Salem battled the inferno as the main factory and nearby National Calfskin Company structures faced loss, with damages estimated between 256000 and 500000 dollars.
