$25,000 in Stolen Goods Recovered in New York Raid

Police raided William Wiesenberger’s pawnshop at 638 Sixth Avenue with a search warrant based on Harry Hess’s alleged burglaries. About $25,000 worth of jewelry and silverware was seized, and Hess, linked to 42 burglaries from Fifty-ninth to One Hundred Twenty-fifth streets, pledged to reveal more. Captain Schmittberger led the operation and said the pawnshop bought the loot for around $1,000.

Sloop Lamont to be commissioned after upgrades at Boston yard

The Lamont yacht, built in 1908 at Deer Isle, undergoes four weeks of refurbishment at Borden's Pumping Station yard. Messrs Edwin A. and Sidney E. Shuman plan to commission the vessel in about ten days with features including pull-out transoms for doubles berths, cedar planking, oak frame, mahogany cockpit, dual 60 gallon water tanks, and two cedar tenders on patent davits. The boat measures 48.5 feet overall with five tons lead ballast and a 6 foot centreboard completion.
