Special Despatch to the Boston Post reports William Macduff a Nassau Street diamond broker who resided in Brooklyn shot his wife Catherine and their six year old son Willie then killed himself at about 6 am. Neighbors heard no quarrel. discovery followed pistol shots two hours later. Macduff used a large British bull-dog pistol. wife shot in the back of the head, Willie killed in bed, powder tinged hair. A note to his brother offers Willie to be buried together.
The Philadelphia meeting of Irish-Americans approved a strong platform denouncing English rule in Ireland and pledging support for national self-government. It formed the Irish National League of America, elected officers including Alexander Sullivan as president, and arranged for coordinated action across states with branches and dues. The gathering praised Patrick Egan and welcomed bishops and other dignitaries while pledging to promote Irish manufactures and unity among Irish and American societies.
The injunction in the Western Union and Mutual Union lease case is dissolved after stockholder consent. Judge Freedman granted vacating the injunction upon defendants agreeing not to sue the plaintiff or his sureties for damages arising from the injunction.
A Boston resident Gustaf Loundberg sues the Albany and Rensselaer iron and steel company in the United States circuit court for a balance of 18,861 in a breach of contract. Judge Coxe presides as chemical experts testify. the trial starts today and will occupy several days.
New York April 27 Mrs Jane Anthony wife of a New York liquor dealer leapt before a Philadelphia express in Jersey City. Switchman Lawrence O'Brien tried to intervene but both were struck. Mrs Anthony cut in two died instantly. O'Brien, a cripple who had lost part of a leg saving a child, died ten minutes later at age 38. Mrs Anthony had not lived with her husband for some time.

Ex-Gov Knight traveled from Easthampton to Springfield to face creditors. A full asset and liability statement for his firms was presented. Creditors proposed settlements: 25 cents on firm claims, 26 cents on corporate claims, 40 cents on personal liabilities. Payments would extend on secured notes at 6 percent for 3, 6, 9 and 12 months.
John McCarthy a 20 year old porter at the Prussian Rubber company 90 Chauncy street was arrested Friday for larceny of money from the cash drawer. Some stolen cash was found on his person. John H Coffey reports a 250 loss on Atlantic avenue Friday forenoon. An elderly well dressed man staying at the Revere house had a 250 gold watch and chain snatched on steps Friday morning, the thief running through Bulfinch street.
Rutland judge J. Rutland April 27 discharged H W Love after the prosecution failed to prove that force was used to constitute criminal action in the charge of attempted rape.
New police commission offices are to be ready for occupancy around July 1 in Pemberton square. The basement will house cells for the detective department while the first floor will accommodate the superintendent, deputies, clerks, and detectives.

The body of Mary Miller, divorced wife of John Miller of New Haven, was found in a river near Camargo bridge Friday night. An 83 year old son of Guiseppe and Theoresa Pecararo of New Haven died after drinking muriatic acid from a bottle in a yard. Frederick Goebel, recently sentenced to state prison for eight years, testified against Oliver Buda in a masked burglary case tied to the David Treat residence robbery at Orange in 1882. Buda was arrested recently. Burgess failed to appear, bond forfeited. John Mobaccees, the fourth suspected burglar, is believed to be hiding in Massachusetts.
