Historic event as Boston and surrounding towns celebrate a proud display of home talent. Thousands line the route while spectators cheer the participants, and the spectacle meets with a thunderous reception despite less favorable weather. A colossal crowd, reportedly near a million, witnesses the parade in vivid scenes of civic pride and local effort.
A dispatch from Camp Devens reports General Edwards Colonel Logan and the 101st Infantry Boston’s Own receiving a mighty Boston New England welcome. Troops praised the warm parade reception in a letter thanking the city and mothers, fathers and sweethearts for their support and pride in the Yankee Division.
Washington April 25 Little relief from the cold wave was forecast for tomorrow by the weather bureau. Most Central States and all Eastern states north of the District of Columbia will see temperatures remain about the same with freezing in New England southeast to Tennessee and Georgia. Precautions to protect fruit and early crops were noted as smudges were planned. The high wind expected to die down could raise freezing danger.
New Haven report states the Yale debating team supported the affirmative and defeated New York University tonight in a debate on whether the 18th amendment prohibiting manufacture, sale and transportation of intoxicating liquors should be repealed.
Philadelphia defeated New York 6 to 3 while Cincinnati edged St. Louis 5 to 1. Pittsburgh and Chicago combined for a 5 run game with Boston, Brooklyn, and Chicago finishing tied or unreported as details cut off.
