Bill to prevent trusts and educate Indian children

Senate report outlines a bill to curb trusts and compel Indian education. It would require the Interior Secretary to establish an industrial boarding school on reservations with adult populations over 500, minors aged eight to eighteen to attend up to five years, with boys learning farming and trades and girls household tasks. Penalties include loss of rations and annuities for noncompliance. The plan excludes the five civilized tribes Osage and Osage Lidiaus, with exceptions for Seminole and Creek in Florida. The House approved thirty private pension bills before adjournment.
