War Garden Plots Sold For Ten Dollars Each
The Boston Food Production Committee votes to set a ten dollar tax for war garden allotments this season. Payment is split into a down payment and two installments. Contracts must be signed by citizen farmers when ground is assigned in Franklin Park or other city lands. Each amateur farmer gets a plot plus ploughing, harrowing, and seed potatoes to plant two thirds of an eighth acre. It is estimated that a number of plots are now available. Flying Old Glory alone does not win the war. buying Liberty bonds helps more.
