Seaver Urges Caution on School Building Plan
Edwin P. Seaver critiques the Alumne report on Boston schoolhouses, arguing that 7000 unoccupied seats is overstated and that new buildings are needed only in districts with crowding. He details corrections showing about 5000 or fewer unoccupied seats, highlights overcrowding in the North and West Ends and several districts, and warns against diverting loan funds from new schools to renovate existing ones. He stresses keeping halls for assemblies and not converting all spaces to classrooms.
