Lawsuit in Chambers District Leads to Production of Book

In a Chambers hearing before Judge C Allen, Waterproof Paper and Fabric Co v Wood considered an attachment against a witness for contempt for refusing to produce a book. The clerk claimed a lien for services but the judge ruled no lien existed and ordered the book produced before a master. Attorneys for both sides are listed. Superior Court Kept Busy April 24 Before Judge Barker

Multiple defendants faced April 24 sessions with Judge Barker. Thomas Barry pleaded nolo contendere to drunkenness and received probation. Mary Brady pleaded not guilty to common nightwalker. trial set for Monday. James Dickey Edward Murrey and Robert Carnes minors pleaded guilty to breaking and entering and were placed on probation. Charles Young and James F. Collins pleaded guilty to drunkenness and assault on an officer respectively, sent to the house of industry for six months. Carrie Joslyn pleaded guilty to common nightwalker and sent to resonatory union for women for one year. Helen Cummings retracted plea to manslaughter and pleaded not guilty. Frank Bronker and Richard Costello pled guilty to breaking and entering with probation. Lizzie Tucker pled guilty to common nightwalker and probation. Joseph Driscoll and George Cottell convicted of arson. each sentenced to four years in state prison.

Laconia Depot Plans and Rail News Stir Area

The Leconia Democrat reports Boston and Lowell railroad plans a new passenger station at Laconia with engineers to survey land and set depot location. Quebec dispatch says North Shore railroad sold and Canada Pacific with Grand Wyuk will operate jointly. Atlantic and Pacific has 100 box cars used as tenements and will overhaul usable ones. Old Colony railroad hires many workers laying steel rails from Buzzard’s Bay to Hyannis.
