Harold S. Adams, 30, of South Street Medford, confessed to stealing over 26000 from the Edison Electric Illuminating Co and losing the money at a Rhode Island gambling resort, as reported to police inspectors yesterday.
On a salary of zero dollars a week Adams kept an imposing Medford home, drove his own car, and held a position that implied substantial lifestyle despite the lack of earnings.
District Fire Chief Fitzgerald O Lalor and three firemen escaped serious injury after the chief's car, responding to a still alarm, collided with a touring car driven by Ariaud Billicci at Gove and Paris streets East Boston.
