Fire department and hundreds of residents searched after Edna Sweeney a 10 year old girl vanished from Atlantic boulevard. She was found an hour later asleep in the Sacred Heart church gallery on Hancock Street near her home. She attends Atlantic School and vanished around noon after leaving school earlier.

Engineer dives to save boy from train in East Boston
Frank A. Kennedy, an engineer on the Boston Revere Beach and Lynn line, jumped from his engine into the water at Havre Street bridge in East Boston yesterday and rescued 7 year old Joseph Magrath after he was hurled from the bridge by the speeding train. Passengers watched as Kennedy swam to the surface and brought the child to safety.

Shortly before 3 pm two boys, Joseph and Francis Grady, walked to the railroad bridge at Havre street with a kitten to dispose of. Joseph refused Grady's advice to toss it into a water pool and stepped onto the bridge alone. A Winthrop train, driven by Engineer Kennedy, appeared, the engineer blew the whistle and applied brakes, but could not stop in time.
