A court stunned by the Donovan murder case learns the killer of McPherson has died after accepting a life sentence. The defendant confessed to the Donovan murder and related crimes, shocking spectators and prosecutors.
James B. Jennings known as Kid Carter admits killing Mildred Donovan near Holy Cross Cemetery on New Year’s Eve after being sentenced for life for William H. McPherson’s murder. He claims other homicides nationwide and frets innocent men are jailed. Middlesex DA now holds a warrant for Donovan murder.
Official bulletins from Rome report Pope Pius's condition improving with no fever and lower bronchial symptoms after a good day. Some doubt persists about a possible relapse due to his general weakness and occasional disobedience to doctors. The latest bulletin notes a temperature of 98 degrees and continued improvement.

A military balloon named Zodiac collapsed at about 650 feet and fell to the ground in Le Grand, France, killing its five occupants. The Zodiac, a 1600 cubic metre balloon, left St. Cloud with military aeronauts Captain Clavenad, Captain Denoue, Lieutenant B Vaisselot, artilleryman Rechy, and civilian pilot Aumont Thieville aboard. A strong wind carried it over Paris to Noisy le Grand where observers saw it collapse. Laborers rushed to help but could not free the crew from the vast silk wreckage.

In a suit filed by Mrs. Beals seeking 1730.48 for room meals and furnishings from 1910 1911 she argues Woodbury owes for loans and earnings shared in a business. Woodbury contends a mutual account existed during his belief they were married and denies the claim. The couple had an annulment and Beals had previously sued Beals for desertion resulting in a divorce.
Herbert Larner a Cambridge schoolboy duelist told his mother at Cambridge Hospital that William Rounds Jr struck first with a knife during a Wednesday night fight. He had seven stab wounds and scratches but the teen is not in danger, resting after being treated. his sweetheart Miss Lillian Rounds may testify.
