Petitioners Seek Twelve Mile Speed for Electric Cars

A Boston city hearing on Roxbury and Roxester bids to raise the electric car speed from seven to twelve miles per hour. Petitioners argue rapid transit benefits and judge the seven mile limit rigid, while opponents cite safety, especially near Shawmut avenue, and demand adherence to prior speeds. A lengthy debate features Alderman Cushing, Horace Merrill, and local residents detailing accidents, stops, and the need to protect pedestrians and schools.
